Angewandte Performance Lab (Vienna)
An experimental format inviting to an informal meeting to share thoughts, prejudices and (mis)ideas about lived and embodied practice. The artist and researcher Mariella Greil hosted the second researcher’s exchange, which focussed on the social as material: How does the idea of the social change in performance contexts, depending on whether we think of community art, participatory art, socially engaged art practice or activism? How can the social be defined as material? When does a socially engaged practice become a work of art? What are the complications and options of working with the social as material in our current cautious times? A flowing mix of current suggestions and interventions by the invited artists Sebastian Bechinger, Magdalena Chowaniec, Martyna Lorenc, Daria Lytvynenko, Jasmin Schaitl, Johanna Tatzgern and Sebastian Bechinger as well as our collaboration partner Chris Standfest rounded off the evening with plenty of table talks. Peter Kozek, Timothy Nouzak, Charlotta Ruth joined the discussions together with Charlotte Bastam, Verena Frauenlob, Aleksandar Gabrowsky, Valentino Skarwan and many great guests.
